Infrabel and the SNCF Réseau hand in hand - 02/06/2017

Friday 2 June 2017 is The International Level Crossing Awareness Day. Within this context, Infrabel and the SNCF Réseau launched an awareness campaign at a level crossing in Roubaix. Infrabel took this opportunity to display its wreck, as featured in the awareness campaign "Wreck on tour".

Roubaix

This morning, the SNCF Réseau and Infrabel ran an awareness campaign in Roubaix. This activity took place as part of The International Level Crossing Awareness Day. It aims to raise drivers' awareness and to urge them to respect the highway code at level crossings.

For the occasion, Infrabel displayed the wreck of a car hit by a train, that is at the centre of the prevention campaign "Wreck on tour".  Safety is a critical issue, if not the highest priority for Infrabel and the SNCF Réseau. This is a great example of mutual support between rail operators!

In France, 99% of accidents at level crossings are caused by inappropriate driving behaviour.  In Belgium, this is 100%. No accident has ever occurred due to equipment failure!

The International Level Crossing Awareness Day is an initiative launched by the UIC (the International Union of Railways) and numerous other stakeholders from the world of rail transport. This is the ninth edition of this day, which aims to improve railway safety.
